Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (375g) bread flour
  • 1 cup (235ml) warm water
  • 2 ¼ tsp (7g) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp (6g) granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp (9g) fine sea salt
  • 2 tbsp (28g) extra virgin olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Combine warm water and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle the yeast on top, stir gently, and let sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. Stir in the olive oil and salt, then gradually add the bread flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until the surface is smooth and tacky.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and leave in a warm, draft-free spot for 60-90 minutes until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Punch the dough down to release air and divide into 4 equal balls.
  6. Stretch each ball into a circle using your hands or a rolling pin, add favorite toppings, and bake for 10-15 minutes until edges are mahogany-colored and cheese is bubbling.
