Ingredients:
- 2 ounces Bourbon Whiskey
- 75 ounce Fresh Lime Juice
- 4–6 ounces High-Quality Ginger Beer
- Ice (Crushed or pellet ice preferred)
- 1 Lime Wheel/Wedge (for garnish)
- 1 fresh mint sprig (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Chill the Mug: Place the copper mug in the freezer for at least 5 minutes before use, or fill it completely with ice water and let sit while you prepare ingredients (discard the water before building the drink).
- Juice the Lime: Measure out 0.75 ounce (22 ml) of fresh lime juice.
- Combine the Base: Pour the measured Bourbon whiskey (2 oz / 60 ml) and the fresh lime juice into the bottom of the chilled copper mug.
- Fill with Ice: Fill the mug completely to the top with ice (crushed ice is ideal as it chills the liquid faster).
- Top Up: Slowly pour the high-quality ginger beer over the ice, filling the mug until about half an inch from the rim.
- Gentle Stir: Using the bar spoon, gently stir the mixture once or twice only. The goal is to incorporate the lime and bourbon without losing the crucial carbonation of the ginger beer.
- Garnish and Serve: Insert a lime wheel or wedge onto the rim. Gently slap the mint sprig against your palm to release its aroma before placing it in the glass next to the ice. Serve immediately.
